The Yorkshire Terrier - An Introduction.

These lovable and little companions, like most other terriers weren't at first certain to be household pets. They were then bred with local long haired Terriers to provide Yorkies. The 1st Yorkie that appeared as they do today made its appearance in a dog show in 1870. Yorkshire Terriers have a long and silky coat of fur, with no undercoat. By standard, Yorkies have human-like hair thats awfully soft and smooth to touch. Like many thoroughbred dogs, Yorkies are susceptible to some genetic defects like Distichiasis ( eyelash that ensues unusually on eyelid ), Hydrocephalus ( water in the brain ), Legg-Perthes illness ( infirmity of hip joint ), and bladder stones. Now while its an actual f act that Yorkies may make smaller messes but the dimensions of the mess doesn't actually affect the amount you are about to spend on cleaning up after your puppy. Living in an house or home without a massive yard is no problem for the Yorkshire Terrier. These pets only need a tiny space to do their business which implies that a flowerbed can work miracles. Plenty of folk laugh at Yorkies in sweaters but actually they help keep the dog warm in the cold winter months.

The dramatic change between the heat of the house to the cold or rough weather outside is hard on a Yorkies body.

As fast as they make it into the heat of your house the need to go will come right back and the puppy will probably go on the floor. Some Yorkies will refuse to go out in rough weather unless they see you've got a sweater for them to wear. This should really only be utilised for short periods of time so your dog still knows it has to use the potty in the yard. This is also corr ect when referring to tracking dog poop in the house on your shoes. You wont notice it till its all over your carpet and the same applies for your neighbours. Though its rare, they may suffer with paralysis due to herniated disks or other spinal issues. While theyre loving to their owners, they're particularly twitchy with strangers. They're good with folks generally and they like mature youngsters to small children.
