Yorkshire Terriers - Keeping Your Yorkie Well Groomed.

How shortly should you start grooming your Yorkshire terrier? At least two times a week, because Yorkies have such a particular coat that correct grooming is needed for their overall healthy appearance. Beginning with your Yorkies coat it's important to start a regular schedule of at least brushing it 2 times a week.

The bath water should warm and ensure you have the shampoo, conditioner and towel, toothbrush and toothpaste and scissors prepared before you put your terrier in the bath. And do not forget to wash and wash again because if any shampoo is left on your Yorkies coat it'll cause dryness. Whether your yorkie has a long or short coat, a regular grooming schedule is an absolute must. Yorkies with long coats should be groomed daily. I keep my yorkie cut reasonably short as she doesn't enjoy being groomed and so grooming her isn't fun for me. My small Yorkshire terrier isn't much of a princess. A yorkie with a short coat does need maintenance. Find out more on buy yorkie puppies. Grooming supplies for your yorkie should include : dog shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer ( with a low setting ), brush ( metal with teeth spaced wider on one side and narrower on the other ), brush ( with metal teeth with rounded ends ), and a de-matter. Employ a dog shampoo that's acceptable for your yorkies skin type. Don't use shampoo on your yorkies face unless it is positively mandatory as it is critical to keep the shampoo out of her eyes. I find it best to take my yorkie into a confined space like the loo after her bath. I shut the door so she won't run all over the house as I must give her frequent breaks. Your Yorkie is susceptible to tarter buildup so brushing their teeth will keep your Yorkie from major dental infections and illness. There are numerous doggie toothpastes on the market today brushing your terriers teeth will help forestall doggie breath too.
