Yorkshire Terriers - Keeping Your Yorkie Well Groomed.

How shortly should you start grooming your Yorkshire terrier? At least two times a week, because Yorkies have such a particular coat that proper grooming is vital for their general healthy appearance. Beginning with your Yorkies coat it's important to start a regular schedule of at least brushing it two times a week.

Brushing each day if your Yorkie has a heavy coat with a soft brush keeps your Yorkies hair from a tangled mess, otherwise I'm sure you'll be hugging with your small companion one or more times a day and you can start brushing him then.

Washing your Yorkie is important to maintaining healthy flowing coat. The bath water should warm and ensure you've got the shampoo, conditioner and towel, toothbrush and toothpaste and scissors prepared before you put your terrier in the bath. Towel dry gradually by patting their coat and not rubbing because rubbing will cause tangling. Next, be certain to check around their eyes for any increase of mucus. Yorkies with long coats should be groomed daily. I keep my yorkie cut reasonably short as she doesn't enjoy being groomed and thus grooming her isn't fun for me. Grooming supplies for your yorkie should include : dog shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer ( with a low setting ), brush ( metal with teeth spaced wider on one side and narrower on the other ), brush ( with metal teeth with rounded ends ), and a de-matter. I find using the kitchen sink is the number one place for my tiny yorkies bath. I am getting her coat terribly wet and then using a large amount of shampoo, I delicately work the lather into her skin. Employ a dog shampoo that's applicable for your yorkies skin type. I towel dry her taking care not to rub her energetically with the towel as this will cause tangles. Check their ears if they need any ear powder this is an excellent time to use it that will enable you to wash their ears more effectively. Take a look at your Yorkies nails and if they need trimming just ensure you do not trim them too short.
